News - Legacy, Worlds, and MTG Comics!

Ok, I know I'm still behind, and I no longer have the excuse of a broken computer. (Although now that the computer is fixed, the internet is still cutting in and out at the worst possible times.)

But let me tell you what I've been up to the past couple days. The first section will stray away from the Fiction focus of this site, while the second section is exciting news for you Vorthos' out there.

Legacy and Worlds 2011

So you know how Worlds 2011 is going to be in San Francisco? Well I didn't know until a few weeks ago when my former housemate gave me the heads up. Guess where I live?

No. Not San Francisco... that answer's too easy. But you were close! I do live in the San Francisco Bay Area.

I've been a casual player on and off since Revised. The only formal event where I was required to have a DCI number was the Lorwyn Prerelease... but man... I've been investigating Legacy and I have plenty of cards to make a tier one deck, and I have plenty of Vintage level cards that I'm willing to part with to make one or two more. (Including and Unlimited Mox Jet, three English Mana Drains, Beta Wheel of Fortune, Alpha Demonic Tutor, and so on...)

With Starcity Games having a successful Open Series, including a stop that was just nearby in San Jose in January, I think I'm going to venture into the world of competitive magic, and build up a playset of Legacy. (Meaning a playset of all Legacy tournament worthy cards, and not a playset of every card that is Legacy legal.) Between my brother and myself, we already have playsets (or 3 ofs) of nearly all the Dual Lands, Wastelands, Force of Wills, Tarmogoyfs, Time Spirals, Mox Diamonds, Metalworkers, and on and on and on.

So yeah, these past few days, I've been studying up on Legacy, and sorting through my brother's and my collections, creating an excel sheet cataloging what Legacy cards we have, and what cards I have that are worth anything, and figuring out which decks I want to assemble, and trying to learn the best way to get the most value from all the cards. (ebay taking 9% from this much money is a little more than I'm happy to part with.)

It's been fun, but it sure has distracted me from putting up the updates. But don't worry, I haven't given up on the site. In fact... that brings me to announcement number 2!

Magic: The Gathering Comics!

MTG Fiction (Meaning me) has just hit the motherload! I hit one beautiful auction on ebay that contained every Magic: The Gathering comic book except for the elusive Dakkon Blackblade. The existence of the comics is the exact reason why I didn't name this site MTG Books, and went for the broader Fiction label instead, yet I really didn't know if I'd be able to get ahold of all of these.

But I have! So expect content to go up regarding these as well. I don't know how much of the comic I'll show. Maybe the first couple pages or so. Hopefully that won't get Wizards to come a knockin' with some Cease and Desists, but I'll certainly be writing up summary/impressions about them.

So anyway, maybe I should get back to work with Agents of Artifice. The chapter's read, I just gotta do the write-up!

  1. I'm sorry to contradict you, but do you have any of the news stand variant covers? I do...well, I have one, a variant on the Fallen Empires Issue 1 of 2.
