Convocations - Page 5

Another classic combo (I think?) inspired this piece by Mike Dringenberg, or at the very least a true combo from the early days of Magic, but one that I never had the joy to play with. The color combination just wasn't in my play style so I only owned half this combo at the time. One card is from Beta, the other from Legends. Can you guess it? No cheating!

(Well... maybe a little is ok this time.)

Did you guess it?

Braingeyser was a moderately favorite card of mine, but Underworld Dreams was completely off my radar. So much so that looking at the original art conjures up absolutely no memories at all, despite the countless hours at looking through the Official Magic Encyclopedia. (Hmm... that reminds me. Where is that these days?)

And speaking of never seeing the original Underworld Dreams before... that is such a strange piece of work. No offense to Julie Baroh, I love her Elvish Spirit Guide and Mind Twist , but this card looks unfinished. Two people having a chat in what is I supposed an off center glimpse of the underworld is not what comes to mind when reading the name of the card.

With that out of the way... well... how does the original Underworld Dreams inspire a topless woman in a bandana and a strange eye on her dress? I'm so confused. If anyone understands this piece, and didn't just guess the second half of it because the Braingeyser is pretty clear, let me know. I'd like to know how this all comes together.
