The Plan - Revised

Who knew the idea of doing Magic: The Gathering book reviews could get so complicated? Trying to lay everything out just right. I have my book list, and boy is it big. But doing reviews isn't as simple as doing one with spoilers, and one without. These are Magic books. They can't just be reviewed like other books.

The books are connected to the card game. They exist because of the card game. I have to keep track of what cards make appearances, perhaps what cards don't but should have, and what should have had a card but didn't (from a readers point of view.)

There is a lot of design philosophy and world building information out there on magicthegathering.com. I have to revisit old articles by Mark Rosewater, and the Savor the Flavor and Taste the Magic articles, and everything else that I at least vaguely remember reading, and see if they should have a place in the review. Somewhere else on the site. Comparing the design philosophy to the story execution is certainly a must to a proper MtG book review.

Do I want to do videos? Yes. Sometime in the future, but I think I have enough in my hands with just text.

Do I want to do full plot summaries? Perhaps. Add the comics to the list? Probably. And the list goes on and on.

It's been 7 years since I gave up on physical books, and went completely digital (both audio and ebooks) when it comes to book consumption, so it's been 7 years since I read my last Magic Book (Fifth Dawn). I can't just write up reviews for those. I have to reread them.

The plan has expanded, and this is going to take a while, but I'll get there. Ravnica has been read, and I'm three chapters in to Guildpact. Hopefully some actual reviews will start popping up soon.
